Situated to the center of the Tyrrhenian Mar, to sun 11 miles from the Cape of the Argentario, the Island of the Giglio has an extension of 21,21 kmq. Its mild climate favors to the visitors one full vacation of surprise in all the seasons, to tightened contact with one still genuine and truth. The crystalline sea color esmerald, with I found them rich and teeming with fish, make from frame to a territory for 90% wild anchor, that he invites to take risks itself for the many pedestrian distances. Made exception for the cape of the Franc (characterized from triassici cavernous limekilns and quartzites of the paleozoico), the Island is constituted nearly exclusively from quarzomoniti (granito), and has mostly mountain nature. Its ridge catches up the maximum point in the Hill of the Pagana (486 meters slm) from where it is enjoyed, in particular in the days more a third beautiful panorama on the archipelago. The Island accommodates a rich Mediterranean flora, the species botanical recovered from the student Sommier (1900) is nearly 700 between which some particularly rare and endemic ones. Green all the year, from March to June is an outbreak of colors and intensity of scents that feel all the senses. the Giglio accommodates also some rare species animals between which the Sardinian Discoglosso (frog), the Travelling Hawk, the Real Gull and Course, are instead completely absent the dangerous vipera and other animals. The coast is developed for 28 km, and alternate reefs of granito levigato to bays, little bays and beaches with sand. The Island of the Giglio is indeed a treasure all to discover, is the ideal goal for all those who loves a genuine relationship with the nature and the peasant atmosphere of the same country, the sea, the walks, the bird-watching, the minerals and the fascinating submarine world.
